Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how SMARTEFFI PTE. LTD. ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Coinspect iOS app (the "App"). Coinspect does not require you to create an account or sign in.
Information We Collect and Why
1. Coin photos
- What: Photos of the front and back of a coin that you take with the camera or choose from your photo library. Before upload, the App crops the image to the coin, converts it to JPEG, and removes EXIF metadata, including GPS location. We also record whether each photo came from the camera or your library.
- Why: To identify the coin and estimate its value, and to improve recognition.
- Retention: Photos are kept on our servers for 30 days after recognition, used to improve recognition, and then deleted.
- Photos from your library are selected with the iOS system photo picker; the App does not request access to your full photo library.
2. Device identifier and usage count
- What: A random device/installation identifier generated by the App and stored in your device's Keychain, plus a server-side record of how many free scans have been used and whether certain one-time screens have been shown.
- Why: To provide the 3 free scans per device and prevent abuse. Because it is stored in the Keychain, this identifier usually remains after the App is deleted and reinstalled.
3. Recognition results and service logs
- What: Recognition output (such as identified coin, country, year, mint mark, and confidence), whether you corrected a result, processing times, and technical errors.
- Why: To deliver results, cache repeated results, troubleshoot, and measure and improve accuracy.
4. Usage and device information (analytics)
- What: A limited set of in-app events (for example first app open, paywall views, purchase results, and result views) with the installation identifier, app version, iOS version, App Store country/region, subscription status, and remaining free scans.
- Why: Product analytics, reliability, and improving the App.
5. Subscription and purchase information
- What: Product purchased, transaction status and identifiers, subscription period, introductory-offer eligibility, renewal, cancellation, billing-failure and refund status, and purchase timestamps, received from Apple and our subscription service provider.
- What we do not get: Your payment card details. Payments are processed by Apple.
- Why: To unlock paid features, restore purchases, show your subscription status and dates, accounting, and support.
6. Notifications
If you keep the renewal reminder on and allow notifications, the App schedules a local notification on your device about 24 hours before your introductory period ends and full-price billing begins. You can decline notification permission or turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time; this does not affect your use of the App.
7. Support emails
If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message, and the app and iOS versions included in the email, and use them to respond.
Tracking
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Third-Party Service Providers
We share information only with service providers that help us run the App, acting on our instructions:
- Third-party AI service providers: receive your coin photos to perform recognition.
- Coin catalog and pricing data providers: receive only text search terms derived from the recognition result (for example a coin name and country). They do not receive your photos or identifiers.
- Precious-metal spot price provider: our servers fetch spot prices periodically; no user data is sent.
- Adapty: subscription management, paywall configuration, and purchase analytics. See Adapty's privacy policy.
- Apple: payments, subscriptions, and App Store services, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and process data on our behalf.
We do not sell your personal information and do not use your photos for advertising.
Other Disclosures
- To comply with law or a lawful request;
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of users, us, or the public;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, subject to this Policy.
Data Retention
- Coin photos: 30 days after recognition, then deleted.
- Device identifier and free-scan count: kept while needed to provide free-scan limits.
- Recognition results, logs, and analytics: 90 days, then deleted.
- Subscription records: as long as needed for accounting, legal compliance, and support.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards such as encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, or to object to certain uses. Because Coinspect has no accounts, please email [email protected] from the App's Contact Support option so we can locate data linked to your installation. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. Changes take effect when posted here with a new effective date.
